3 Black Owned Carryout Spots Perfect for Gluten Free and Vegan Eaters

Hey Detroit we're back with another blog! Here's a list of our favorite carry out restaurants with vegan and gluten free friendly menu options that we've had the opportunity to visit this January:

Breadless

2760 Larned St, Detroit, MI 48207

Mon-Sat 10:30am-8pm Sundays:11am-6pm

Dietary Preferences: Veg, VG, Keto, and GF friendly

The aim of Breadless is to increase accessibility of healthy and nutritious foods to residents in the inner city of Detroit. Breadless specializes in gluten free leafy green wrapped sandwiches. Customers can choose from collard green, turnip green, swiss chard, or dino kale wrapped sandwiches. You can also purchase bowls and healthy snacks such as keto chips, jicama chips and cauliflower pops. Make sure you follow the Breadless Instagram account as they frequently hold events around Detroit.

The Nacho Grill

600 W Nine Mile Rd, Ferndale, MI 48220 (parking lot of Ferndale Foods)

Thurs-Sat 12:30pm-7pm

Dietary Preferences: Veg, VG, GF, and Halal friendly

The Nacho Grill functions as a pop up food truck that specializes in elevated nachos. The menu contains many unique nacho creations such as chicken shawarma and BBQ brisket. The owners make the experience super convenient with a pager system so you can wait in your car while your order is being prepared and nacho gloves to keep your hands clean. You can find this food truck in the parking lot of Ferndale Foods at 9mile and Livernois.

What's The Dill

4088 W McNichols Rd, Detroit, MI 48221

Tues-Fri 10am-6pm, Saturdays: 12pm-7pm, Sundays: 11am-3pm

Dietary Preferences: Veg, VG, & GF Friendly

What's the Dill is another restaurant ditching the bread for healthier options. This restaurant has been serving the metro Detroit area for years holding pop up events and now they finally have a brick and mortar. What's The Dill specializes in pickle based sandwiches instead of bread. They also offer bell pepper sandwiches, tomato sandwiches, or cucumber sandwiches. What's The Dill offers some truly unique pickle combinations and snacks. The perfect stop for pickle lovers.
